Alexander III.Millionnaya Street. 5/1. Marble Palace.

 

From the end of May 1909 trie monument to Russian Emperor Alexander III (1845 -1894) was situated at Znamenskaya Square (nowadays Vosstanya Square). In November 1994 the work of sculptor Trubetzkoy R.P. was removed and placed in the courtyard of Marble Palace. Alexander III was keen in history; especially he was fond of collecting Russian historical memorials. He assumed the throne under extremely hard conditions, after the disaster of the 1 st of May 1881. his farther had fallen a victim to.
