Goethe I.W.Nevsky Prospect 22 24, near St. Peter and Paul Church.


The monument to the great German writer, founder of a new trend in German literature, thinker and naturalist l.W. Goethe was carried out by sculptor Lazarev L.K. and architect Lazarev E.E. The sculpture was installed near St. Peter and Paul Church on 30 of September 1999 on the occasion of writer's 250 birthday anniversary.
In his works were reflected the main trends and contradictions of the epoch. In tragedy "Phaust" was actualized the idea of meaning of life quest, finding the solution in the man's deeds. At the back pedestal's side there are two inscriptions in Russian and German languages: "The monument was created on the funds of firm "Mersedes Bents Logovas - Neva" and International Goethe Society".
