Moskovsky region


in 18th century Tsarskoye Selo became the residence of Russians monarchs and a road was built for communication with St.Petersburg. Now this road is called Moscow Avenue. When you enter the city from the south, you go by the Victory Square with the monument to the Heroes of the Defence of Leningrad and by Moscow square with the huge edifices called the House of Soviets, the perfect sample of Soviet architect style.
A foot walk round Moscow district could be started from Fontanka river embankment. This part of the city was formed in 1730s. The striking example of mode of life in this district could be found at Fyodor Dostoyevsky in his novel "Crime and Punishment". Moscow Victory Part commemorates the victory of Russia in the Second World War. You can walk by its shady pathes. evaluate the combination of regular and landscape styles used in its planning. The park is decorated with bronze busts of heroes of wars, cosmonauts, famous scientists, artists, natives of St. Petersburg.
The nearest metro stations: Moskovskaya. Sennaya Ploshchad, Technological Institute. Park Pobedy.
