Nicholas IMonument to Nicholas I.
The  Isaac's Square.


The monument to Nicholas 1 (1796-1855) Russian Emperior. was installed on the Isaac's Square on 25 of June 1859. The authors ol the monument are: sculptors - Klodt P.K.. Zaleman R.K., Ramazanov N.A.. architects - Montferran O.R.. Bonshtedt L... Veigelt R.K.
The inscription at the red granite pedestal reads: "To Nicholas I Emperor All-Russian. 1859". Nicholas I assumed the throne on the occasion of unexpected Emperor Alexander I death. He stilled the rebellion of Decembrists. During his reign was reinforced the centralization of bureaucratic apparatus, in 1837 was opened the first Russian TsarsKoselskaya Railway road.
