Pavel I (Paul I).Mikhaiiovsky (Inzlienerny) Palace. Yard.

 

Pavel Petrovitch - All-Russian Emperor, the son of Emperor Peter III and Empress Catherine II (1754-1801). He assumed the throne after the death of Catherine II on 6 of November 1796. Due to the uncommon conditions he has been brought up, he got the traits of character, which sculptor Gorevoy V.E. and architect Nalivaiko V.I. tried to reflect in the sculpture. The monument to Pavel I was opened in the yard of Mikhaiiovsky Palace in 2003. The well-known fact, that in his paiace - castle he was suffo¬cated on the night from 11 to 12 of March 1801.
