Square of the Dictatorship of the Proletariat. Smolny Garden.


Marx K. - the thinker and public leader, faunder of Marxism. Together with Engels wrote "Communist Party Manifest", was the leader and organizer of the First International. His main work - "Capital" formed the basis of economics. Marx developed the theoretical basis of historical materialism, theory of surplus value, investigated the capitalism development, etc. The monument done by sculptor Yevseev S.A. and architects - Shchuko V.A. and Gelfreikh V.G. was opened in July 1934. At the granite pedestal front side is written: "K. Marx. 1818-1883".
