Sakharov's Square.
Sakharov A.D. (1921-1989) -- Russian physicist and public figure, member of the USSR Academy of Sciences. One of the leaders of remedial movement. For his activity against the intrusion of Russian troops in Afghanistan in January 1980 was deprived of all his state awards and sent into exile to Gorki, where he continued his remedial activity. In 1975 he was presented to Nobel Prize. The sculpture done by Lazarev L.K. was opened in 2003 and installed on the square, which is bearing his name.
