Lomonosov M.V.

The monument to M.V Lomonosov (sculptor Zabello P.P. and architect Lutkin A.S.) was opened on 24 of September 1892. On the gray marble pedestal in gilded letters is written a quotation from the A.S.Pushkin poem dedicated to M.V.Lomonosov. Michailo Vasilyevitch Lomonosov was born near the town Kholmogoru in 1711. Lomonosov is the first Russian scientist - naturalist of world significance; poet, who laid the foundation of modern literary language; artist. historian, upholder of enlightenment and development of Russian science and economy. Died in St. Petersburg on 4 of April 1765. Was buried at Necropolis.
The monument was erected in 1892 by Petersburg's Public municipal Administration.
