Shevchenko T.G.Slavydnskaya Square.


The three meters bronze monument to T. Shevchenko was presented to the city by Canadian sculptor of Ukraine origin Leo Moil (Leonid Molozhanin). The monument was installed in the Ordinary Square near the "Petrogradskaya" metro station. Shevchenko T.G. (1814-1861). Ukraine poet and artist, was born in a family of a serf - peasant. In 1833. after he was redeemed, entered the Petersburg's Academy of Arts. His poetry is penetrated with love to Ukraine, compassion to hard people's fate. His creative work started the realistic trend in Ukraine art.
