Submarine "S - 323" Memorial

SubmarineCommunal graveyard on the right bank of the  river Smolenka.


The memorial dedicated to the feat of arms of holding the Order of the Red Banner Submarine "S -323" naval depot, perished in 1943. is situated in an area of Smolensk memorial cemetery. "The project was realized in 1983 thanks to people of the V.I. region and Council of veterans - submariners. The authors of the project - architects Levenkov A. D. and Duchovany E.A.
The sign at the pedestal reads as follows: "Let the stone tell the menacing true story and friends bring their gratitude in reward. To submariners, who defended Leningrad, to their submarines that were the first to run the blockade..."
